In order to become a Certified Flight Instructor, you must:
-Be at least 18 years old.
-Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.
-Already hold either a Commercial certificate with an instrument rating or an ATP.
-Receive logbook endorsement from an auth. instructor to take the 2 written exams
-Pass an FAA written exam on aeronautical knowledge areas.
-Pass an FAA written exam on the fundamentals of instructing (or already hold a teacher’s certificate of teaching grade 7+)
-Receive a logbook endorsement from an auth. instructor for proficiency for areas of operation.
-Pass the required practical test that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating that is sought.
-Log at least 15 hours as PIC in category/class for rating being sought.
